Asus Zenfone AR is coming to India very soon. It’s the second device to be launched after the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro in the Tango AR (augmented reality) platform and Daydream Virtual reality software. It was launched at CES 2017. Asus has already announced via Twitter that it all set launch the “World’s first 8GB RAM smartphone in India very soon”. The company has not yet given their confirmation on the name of the device. As we already know that OnePlus have already launched their 8GB RAM smartphone, i.e., the OnePlus 5. So, now it is clear that Asus Zenfone AR will not be the world’s first 8GB RAM smartphone.
Now, talking about the Tango technology that is used in Asus Zenfone AR, is a new technology by Google which allows AR gaming & utilities alongwith Daydream which is a Virtual Reality Programme developed by Google. Basically, Daydream was exclusive only to the Pixel devices as of now. Now, let’s discuss about the specifications that this smartphone boasts:
The smartphone is 8.95mm thin and is approx 170g in weight. It is has a 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution screen. It does have a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for screen protection and a 79% body-to-screen ratio display. The overall design of the device looks premium and well crafted. The looks of the device seems to be great.
Asus Zenfone AR comes with dual hybrid sim slot which supports either two sim cards or one sim and one microSD card. It supports 4G VoLTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity. It comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing.
The camera of this device is equipped with TriCam system, i.e., it has three 23 MP SONY IMX cameras in the rear and a 8 MP shooter in the front with f/2.0 aperture and an 85 degree wide angle lens for taking brilliant selfies. It also has a motion tracking system and depth-sensing system alongwith TriTech+ autofocus system and 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization as well as the 3-axis Electronic Image Stabilization. The camera also does support 4K video recording.
The smartphone is clocked at 2.35 GHz Quad Core Processor alongwith Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and Adreno 530 GPU. It has four variants of which packs 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 2 TB via microSD card. In terms of RAM, it will be available with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with custom ZenUI 3.0. Overall, the hardware seems to be promising as per as the performance department is concerned. Rest, it also sports an external five magnet speaker which props up high resolution audio and DTS surround sound to provide massive AR and VR experience throughout. Hence, the performance of the phone seems promising and would defnitely give a tough competition to the OnePlus 5 which has already been launched for 27,999.
Asus Zenfone AR is equipped with a 3300 mAH Li-Po battery which supports the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. This quick charge technology helps the device to get 60% of juice within half hours of charging.
